AWS cost optimization

AWS cost optimization that fixes the waste, not just reports it.

Finding AWS waste is easy. Fixing it is where CloudBudgie stands apart. Discover savings across your AWS environment, apply supported fixes directly or through infrastructure-as-code pull requests, and keep optimizing as your infrastructure evolves.

Remediation, not another dashboard

Visibility tells you where money goes. Engineering teams also need the change made, reviewed, and kept in place.

Visibility alone

  • Shows where spend goes by service, account, and tag
  • Highlights opportunities worth investigating
  • Leaves planning and making each change to your team

CloudBudgie

  • Estimates the monthly savings of every optimization it finds
  • Applies supported fixes directly in AWS when you choose
  • Opens Terraform and CloudFormation pull requests for your team to review
  • Keeps checking with the optimization policies you enable

IaC PR marks optimizations that can open a Terraform or CloudFormation pull request when the resource is defined in code. Off-Hours marks resources you can schedule. Direct apply varies by optimization, and CloudBudgie shows the actions available on each resource.

AWS-native insights. CloudBudgie also brings in recommendations from Compute Optimizer, Trusted Advisor, and Savings Plans alongside its own.

Fix it

Three ways to act on an optimization

Choose per optimization. The same finding can stay a recommendation, be applied in AWS, or become a pull request.

  1. Recommendation only

Connect with read-only permissions and use CloudBudgie to find and prioritize savings. Nothing in your AWS environment changes.

  2. Apply Now

Apply a supported change directly to AWS through the IAM role you connected. Use it for resources that are not managed in code.

  3. Apply with AI

BudgieBot prepares a Terraform or CloudFormation change and opens a GitHub pull request. Your team reviews and deploys it through your existing workflow.

How IaC pull requests work

Example: one oversized EC2 instance

What a single optimization looks like from finding to fix.

What happens next

  • Recommendation only: The finding and estimate stay in CloudBudgie for your team to plan.
  • Apply Now: CloudBudgie changes the instance type in AWS. AWS requires an instance to be stopped to change its type, so plan direct changes for a maintenance window.
  • Apply with AI: BudgieBot prepares the instance_type change in your Terraform and opens a GitHub pull request with the finding and estimated savings. Your team reviews and deploys it.
How EC2 rightsizing works

Illustrative example, not customer data. Savings use us-east-1 Linux On-Demand rates. Actual findings and savings depend on your AWS environment and pricing.

EC2 instance

reports-worker-2
Finding
Instance is larger than its workload needs
Evidence
Consistently low CPU utilization and additional workload signals indicate the instance may be oversized.
Change
m5.2xlarge → m5.xlarge
Capacity
8 → 4 vCPU, 32GB → 16GB memory

Estimated savings

$140/month

Keep it fixed

Continuous optimization

New cloud waste doesn’t wait for your next review. Enable supported optimization policies, and CloudBudgie automatically checks for new opportunities and takes action using your chosen method.

  1. Step 1

    You choose the policies

Continuous Optimization covers a focused set of supported policies, such as unassociated Elastic IPs and detached EBS volumes. Other optimizations wait for you to act.

  2. Step 2

    You choose the execution method

SDK applies supported changes directly to AWS. IaC has BudgieBot open a pull request for each change, so nothing deploys without review.

Off-Hours scheduling

Off-Hours separately stops or pauses supported databases, warehouses, and Auto Scaling Groups outside working hours and resumes them on your schedule.

How Off-Hours scheduling works

You stay in control

CloudBudgie connects with an IAM role you control and acts only within the access you grant.

  • Read-only is an option

Find savings without granting CloudBudgie permission to change your AWS environment.

  • Changes only when you choose

CloudBudgie changes AWS only when you apply an optimization, enable a Continuous Optimization policy that uses the SDK method, or set an Off-Hours schedule.

  • Your team owns every pull request

BudgieBot does not access Terraform state, apply changes, or merge pull requests.

Pricing that stays simple

You pay for what CloudBudgie evaluates, not for what you spend or save.

  • Start free.
  • Pricing is based on optimization evaluations.
  • No percentage of your AWS spend or savings.
  • Keep 100% of what you save.
